TV Aerial Planned Engineering Works 27/05/2013

This weeks planned TV Aerial engineering works for Digital Switchover Week Commencing 27/05/2013

TV Aerial

Digital Switchover is now completed for the whole of the UK and Northern Ireland! However there are still some engineering works ongoing that may affect the signal you receive from your TV Aerial. Most of these planned engineering works will take place in the early hours of the morning to avoid any unnecessary interruptions to your TV viewing. In some cases there will be times when this maintenance work does carry on until the day time, and other cases where unplanned engineering works need to be carried out immediately to fix new issues. The Arqiva engineers work as quick and hard as they possibly can to make sure interruptions to your TV viewing are kept to a minimum.

Below is a list of this week’s planned TV Aerial Transmitter engineering works. Check to see if you might be affected by any of the planned works. If you find that you are in an area where planned works are to be carried out that week, bear in mind that any late night/early morning planned recordings that you might have may fail to record properly! Likewise If you find you are having reception issues it might be worth while checking for this week’s unplanned engineering works list (updated at the top of this list when any data becomes available).

Please note this is not an exhaustive list, there may be interruptions and transmitter works caused by factors other than digital switchover. If you are having problems with your TV signal please also check with the BBCs website – see bottom of post….

It is the next evolution in the way mobile data is transmitted and received, leading to phenomenal upload and download speeds – far faster than most people’s home broadband services!

Freeview HD – Goodbye BBCHD Hello BBC TWO HD

Tomorrow The first Ever Freeview HD Channel Shuts Down

BBC Two HD

BBCHD – the first ever Freeview HD channel to be launched in the UK will be shutdon as of tomorrow the 26th March 2013. But the good news is that it will be immediately replaced by BBC Two HD!!

BBCHD has often simulcasted the same content as BBC Two but in a high definition version so a lot of viewers wont notice that much of a difference. In fact it may make it easier for a lot of Freeview HD viewers to watch the programmes in glorious High Definition – some people probably didn’t even realise they did this so missed out on all those chances.

However BBCHD was also the channel that gave both BBC Three and BBC Four a place to show off their channels selection of rich high definition content. Now these HD programmes will have to be viewed on the iPlayer or repeated on the likes of BBC One or BBC Two in order for them to ever appear on Freeview HD (also Freesat HD).

Below we have included a new channel listing lineup of LCNs (Local channel numbers for Freeview / Freeview HD). It lists all available channels, what LCNs that have in the guide and on what digital multiplext they are transmitted/received on. For viewers who can only access a sub-transmitter, you will only be likely to receive the first 3 digital multiplexes aslo known as the three Public Service Broadcasters, for those lucky enough to be close to a main transmitter you will receive all three Public Service Broadcasters plus the additional 3 commercial broadcasters multiplexes.

Plus if you are lucky enough to live in the Winter Hill area (Manchester) you may well pickup the additional Manchester only digital multiplex and enjoy the likes of ‘movies4men’ and ‘high street TV’

BBC B (HD) is only available for Freeview HD customers. You will only have Freeview HD if your TV is specifically “Freeview HD” logod or you have a separate Freeview HD set top box/receiver. Please note – A TV with Freeview HD and an HD Freeview TV are not the same thing!

Freeview HD DMOL BBCHD BBC Two HD

Click on the picture above for an even bigger view.

To get the new BBC Two HD Channel you will need to retune your TV set or Freeview HD Set Top Box. This is usually just a case of going into the menu, setup, tuner/channels, new auto scan. The Freeview HD automatic scan will then pick up the new BBC Two HD channel and delete the old redundant listing for BBC HD.

4G Mobile transmissions are coming shortly… Are you ready for the Interference that it might cause? Check out our Dedicated 4G information centre at www.tradeworks.tv/acatalog/4G-LTE.html
